Edinboro University to convene academic forum on recent school and public places mass shootings - February 27 in Compton Hall

During an academic forum February 27, five Edinboro University professors will examine the phenomenon of mass shootings in schools and other public settings.

The forum, free and open to the public, will be convened in Compton Hall, Room 107, at 4 p.m.

This forum will not focus on issues of public policy or security measures, but instead will explore the current state of knowledge about mass shootings.

Moderated by Dr. Kahan Sablo, Vice President for Student Affairs, the panel will include Dr. Michael Bucell, of Edinboro’s Counseling and Psychological Services Department; Dr. Kevin Courtright, of the Political Science/Criminal Justice Department; Dr. Irene Fiala, of the Sociology Department; Dr. Gary Levine, of the Psychology Department; and Dr. Edward Snyder, of the Professional Studies Department.

The panelists’ presentations will be followed by a question and answer period. Students, faculty and staff are encouraged to attend this timely academic forum.
