The following public events are scheduled in April 2013 on the campus of Edinboro University:

JOHN WATERS: THIS FILTHY WORLD: Thursday, April 4, 8:30 p.m., Louis C. Cole Auditorium – Memorial Hall, Edinboro University of Pennsylvania. Solo stand-up performance recommended for mature audiences. Cost: Free for Edinboro students (ticket required), $10 general admission in advance, $15 at the door. “INSIGHTS INTO THE MIND,” Thursday, April 11, 9:30 a.m., Diebold Center for the Performing Arts, Senior Center (basement floor), Edinboro University of Pennsylvania. Al Stone Lecture Series features Dr. Marty Mitchell, who finds implications for the NFL in a neurological study based nuns who donated their brains for research. Cost: Free. Parking on nearby streets or with passes available from university police.

WOODWIND CONCERT: Thursday, April 11, 7:30 p.m., Dr. William P. Alexander Music Center Recital Hall, Edinboro University of Pennsylvania. Cost: Free.

MOTIVATIONAL SPEAKER TRAVIS ROY: Thursday, April 11, 3 and 6 p.m., Louis C. Cole Auditorium – Memorial Hall, Edinboro University of Pennsylvania. “LOCK, STOCK, AND TWO SMOKING BARRELS”: Thursday, April 11, 8:30 p.m., Frank G. Pogue Student Center, Scot Cinema, Edinboro University of Pennsylvania. Edinboro Film Series presents 1998 film directed by Guy Ritchie. Cost: $2; free for Edinboro students. 

SPIRIT QUEST FILM FEST: April 12-14, Frank G. Pogue Student Center, Scot Cinema, Edinboro University of Pennsylvania. Complete schedule for the three days of thought-provoking independent films will be announced by April 1 at www.spiritquestfilmfest.com. Cost: Free for Edinboro Students with valid I.D., $5 per screening for general public.

“WE CAN MAKE YOU LAUGH” COMEDY TOUR: Sunday, April 14, 8 p.m., Frank G. Pogue Student Center, Scot Cinema, Edinboro University of Pennsylvania. Cost: Free.

CONCERT BAND OF NORTHWEST PENNSYLVANIA SPRING CONCERT: Sunday, April 14, 3 p.m., Louis C. Cole Auditorium – Memorial Hall, Edinboro University of Pennsylvania. Soloist: Marianne Carrel. Theme: “Band Classics, Old and New,” featuring works by Barlow, Barber, van der Roost, Sparke and Dvorak. Call 734-4389. Cost: Free.

LAW, GOVERNMENT AND CRIMINAL JUSTICE DAY: Wednesday, April 17, Frank G. Pogue Student Center, Edinboro University of Pennsylvania. Event includes career fair, 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., honors for four distinguished Edinboro alumni and presentations throughout the day. Cost: Free. 

AL STONE LECTURE SERIES:  Thursday, April 18, 9:30 a.m., Diebold Center for the Performing Arts, Senior Center (basement floor), Edinboro University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Robert Rhodes will examine how the Democrats convincingly won the Senate and White House while Republicans easily retained control of the House. Cost: Free. Parking on nearby streets or with passes available from university police.

“WILD BILL”: Thursday, April 18, 8:30 p.m., Frank G. Pogue Student Center, Scot Cinema, Edinboro University of Pennsylvania. Edinboro Film Series presents 2011 film directed by Dexter Fletcher. Cost: $2; free for Edinboro students.

COMEDIAN GRANT LYON: Sunday, April 21, 8 p.m., Frank G. Pogue Student Center, Scot Cinema, Edinboro University of Pennsylvania. Cost: Free. 

“GOUVERNEUR MORRIS – PENNSYLVANIA’S GIFT TO WOMEN AND THE U.S. CONSTITUTION”:  Thursday, April 25, 9:30 a.m., Diebold Center for the Performing Arts, Senior Center (basement floor), Edinboro University of Pennsylvania. Al Stone Lecture features Dr. David Ferster. Cost: Free. Parking on nearby streets or with passes available from university police. 

OPERA WORKSHOP SPRING CONCERT: Thursday, April 25, 5 p.m., Dr. William P. Alexander Music Center Recital Hall, Edinboro University of Pennsylvania. Cost: Free.
