Baldwin City, Kan. — Ten Baker University students and three Baker faculty members were inducted into the Delta Pi chapter of Phi Beta Delta, an honorary society for international scholars, on Wednesday at the Collins House.
New student members were Haven Ashley, Topeka, Kan.; Lauren Breithaupt, Overland Park, Kan.; Nancy Delgado, Emporia, Kan.; Ariella Harrison, Anza, Calif.; Rachel Lusk, Overland Park, Kan.; Joseph Pace, Baldwin City, Kan.; Anna Richards, Baldwin City; Allyson Sass, Baldwin City, Kan.; Brittni Sayers, Centerville, Kan.; and Kate Thurbon, Topeka, Kan.
New faculty members inducted into the chapter were Jacob Bucher, assistant professor of sociology; Ryan Gibb, instructor of international studies; Joanne Nystrom Janssen, assistant professor of English; Robin Liston, associate professor of music; Robyn Long, assistant professor of psychology; and Leonard Ortiz, assistant professor of history.
Delta Pi also celebrated the varied and considerable contributions of Eliot S. Berkley, a longtime friend of the University and founding member of Greater Kansas City's International Relations Council. He established the Eliot S. Berkley Prize in International Studies Prize in 1999 "to promote and reward outstanding students who are pursuing careers in international business or other internationally-related field."
