Transfer Admission Deadline

CHENEY, Wash. - Due to unprecedented demand, Eastern Washington University will close the application for admission for transfer students on July 1.

Applications remain available for winter and spring quarters.

"Eastern is an exceptionally popular transfer destination for students across the region," said EWU President Rodolfo Arévalo. "Students get a chance to work closely with professors, and the university prides itself on building internship and professional opportunities for students long before they graduate. Closing the application is part of our plan for sustainable growth and our continued commitment to academic excellence."

Arévalo noted that transfer applications at Eastern are up by 4 percent over figures from last year. This follows two consecutive years of record enrollment, with more than 12,000 students enrolled at the university at the beginning of fall 2011 quarter.

More transfer students are finishing their bachelor's degrees at Eastern because of innovative transfer relationships and the outstanding quality and breadth of academic programs at the Cheney and Riverpoint Campuses. A year ago, half of all graduates had no federal loans after earning their degrees. This year, Eastern once again had the smallest tuition increases of any of the four-year state institutions.

"The university continues its commitment to access and excellence," noted Arévalo. "We have strengthened the relationships with our community college colleagues to provide better pathways for more students to achieve their dream of a college degree."
