CHENEY, Wash. - Eastern Washington University's College of Business and Public Administration (CBPA) has been named an outstanding business school by The Princeton Review, which features EWU in the 2013 edition of its annual guidebook, The Best 296 Business Schools.

Student input from surveys and data collected from each institution helped identify the top business schools named in the book, which is now available in bookstores nationwide.

"EWU is honored to have our program recognized by The Princeton Review for having a balance of affordability, quality and convenience," said Roberta Brooke, director of EWU's MBA Program. "This is the result of a team effort by all those associated with Eastern, and we will continue to strive for excellence.

"We consider Eastern Washington University's College of Business and Public Administration as one of the best institutions they could attend to earn an MBA," said Robert Franek, senior vice president of publishing for The Princeton Review, an education services company. "The schools profiled in this book were chosen based on our high regard for their academic programs."

The Best 296 Business Schools has a two-page profile of Eastern's MBA program, and includes write-ups on EWU's academics, student life and admissions. Eastern receives high marks from MBA students for its flexible schedule, convenient downtown Spokane location and knowledgeable instructors who maintain high academic standards, have strong ties to the business community and are highly regarded amongst their peers.

The guidebook also notes the varying age of CBPA students, who noted in the survey that "the diversity of students and faculty significantly enhances the learning environment and challenges you to think more critically."

The Princeton Review does not rank the business schools, or name one business school best overall. The Princeton Review is also known for its guides to colleges and to standardized tests, its classroom and online test-prep courses, tutoring and other education services. Student Nationally Recognized

CHENEY, Wash. - Eastern Washington University senior Susanna Kang has been named Innovator of the Year by Alpha Kappa Psi (AKPsi), a professional co-ed business fraternity dedicated to developing future business leaders.

Kang, who will earn her BA degree in business operations management this June, received the award at the recent AKP national conference in Reno, NV. The award goes to the organization's upcoming "mover and shaker." Founded in 1904, Alpha Kappa Psi is the oldest and largest co-ed business fraternity in the country.

After joining AKPsi's Eastern chapter in 2011, Kang led the Amazon.com Partnership Committee and helped raise more than $2,000. She is currently the chapter president, and helps organize workshops and bring professionals out to campus to create more opportunities for Eastern students

Seattle native also has minor degrees in Communications and Social Work, and plans to pursue her MBA at EWU after graduation. In addition to her studies and campus involvement, Kang is a full-time employee in Student Employment on campus. Her long term goals include being a part of the top management team of a large company and opening a non-profit organization.

Denver DMS Accreditation Recognized by JRCDMS

Last month, the current general sonography program accreditation for the Adventist University of Health Sciences (ADU) Denver, Colorado site was recognized by the Joint Review Commission on Education in Diagnostic Medical Sonography Programs (JRCDMS). While the ADU sonography students in Denver have clinical sites in several of the Seventh-day Adventist hospitals in the area, they share the same curriculum and faculty as the students in Orlando.

Utilizing high definition video conferencing systems, the Diagnostic Medical Sonography (DMS) program provides an innovative mix of real-time, interactive classroom and computer-mediated activities that provide an integrated approach to learning.

“Other than clinical sites, our Denver students share the same professors, lectures, textbooks, and tests as those students based in Orlando. It truly is a synchronous, shared learning environment.” says Professor Charlotte Henningsen, DMS program chair.

The general sonography program was initially delivered as a diploma program at Florida Hospital before the founding of Florida Hospital College of Health Sciences in 1992. Programmatic accreditation was pursued following the development of the associate of science degree. The DMS program underwent its last reaccreditation process in 2007. The sonography program is not up for reaccreditation until 2018.

In addition to sonography, the ADU site in Denver has an accredited radiography program and offers general education courses for radiography, sonography, and nursing.
