Students and their parents can get help completing a key financial aid form online at any of three Edinboro University workshops.
At the FAFSA Completion Workshops, participants will receive hands-on help with the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) from University financial aid professionals. FAFSA is used to determine the amount of federal grant and loan awards a student receives and is also used by Edinboro University and most other colleges to determine need for additional financial assistance.
The workshops will be held Saturdays, Feb. 23 and March 9, in the Hamilton Hall basement computer lab on the main campus in Edinboro and Saturday, March 2, in the Garden House computer lab at the University’s Erie campus, the Porreco Center, 2951 W. 38th St. All three sessions are scheduled from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Participants should bring income information for 2012 – such as 2012 federal tax returns – for the student as well as his or her parents if the student is a dependent.
Assistance with the online FAFSA form at the workshops is free, regardless of where a student is enrolled or applying to attend college. Edinboro has set March 15 as its FAFSA priority filing date and recommends that its students and prospective students file their form by then, said Alyssa Dobson, Interim Director of Financial Aid.
Because space at the workshops is limited, appointments are recommended, though they are not required. Call (814) 732-3500, or email FinAid@edinboro.edu.
