A scholarship, in memory of Jeremy Harrel, has been established for a Pauls Valley High School senior who plans to attend East Central University.

Harrel, who was an ECU sophomore majoring in business, died in a car wreck on Dec. 6, 2011 and, with the one-year anniversary of his passing approaching, friends, family and the ECU Foundation have established a memorial scholarship in his honor.

He was a Pauls Valley High School graduate, but also attended Ada High School and Byng High School. His passion was athletics as he was involved in several sports. Harrel was described as a natural-born competitor and wanted to excel in everything from recreational softball to college algebra.

After graduation from Pauls Valley High, he attended Oklahoma State University his freshman year. He was a life-long OSU Cowboys’ fan and was able to live his dream of attending school there before coming ‘home’ to ECU.

Harrel, who was noted for his remarkable ability to make people smile and laugh, was well-liked and a positive influence to everyone. He also spent a lot of time with friends and made a permanent mark on all of their lives.

Donations can be made to the ECU Foundation, 1100 E. 14th, Ada, OK, 74820.

Nava Code Talker Bill Toledo

Navajo Code Talker Bill Toledo is scheduled to have a book signing after his speech on Feb. 28 during East Central University’s Fifth Annual Louise Young Diversity Lecture.

Mr. Toledo will be speaking at 7 p.m. on Feb. 28 at the Ataloa Theatre of the Hallie Brown Ford Fine Arts Center on the ECU campus. The speech is free and open to the public.

Toledo was a World War II Navajo Code Talker for three years from 1942-45, serving in engagements including the Battle of Bougainville in the British Solomon Islands and the battles of Guam and Iwo Jima.

Toledo’s work and use of the Navajo language helped block Japanese intelligence experts from breaking United States and Allied codes. The Japanese were well-versed in the English language and were able to anticipate American and Allied actions, before the United States Marine Corps employed the Navajo Indians, who used their native language, to help disguise American and Allied moves, which proved to be highly successful.

Following his speech and a brief question-answer session, Toledo will sign books for $45 apiece (cost of the book and signing). Several titles of books included are: Navajo Weapon, Navajo Warriors and It Had To Be Done. Proceeds from the book signing will go to the operating revenue of the Navajo Code Talkers group to purchase food, drinks, etc. for their meetings and other functions they attend.

Share music folder ONLY

Dear all, I am having the following issue I hope you can help with:

I am running itunes under windows 8. I have setup two users on the same desktop. Only me has iphone / ipad. Installing itunes it has put its libraries under my user account. However, I wish to share ONLY the music files with the other user i.e. for him to able and listen to the same music files directly from his account. I can obviously give him access rights to the folder but I don't really want to do that. The good option would be to place ONLY the music files under the PUBLIC user account - but I don't know how to do this!

I have found some articles / solutions talking about moving the itunes media folder under "public" account  - but this means that other items apart from music is transfered (not desirable). Any suggestions or directions?

Thank you in advance
