Three Pakistani Students to Study at EWU

CHENEY, Wash. - Eastern has been selected as a host institution for the 2011 IREX Global UGRAD Pakistan program funded by the U.S. Department of State Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs.

The UGRAD Pakistan program provides a diverse group of emerging student leaders from underrepresented sectors in Pakistan a short-term undergraduate study opportunity in the United States. As part of this program, EWU will host three undergraduate students from Pakistan for fall quarter 2011.

Through their business administration and computer science programs of study, exploration of U.S. culture and integration into U.S. communities, Global UGRAD in Pakistan students will develop a broad and nuanced understanding of U.S. values and ideals. The participants will also become citizen ambassadors who support expanded diplomatic and development partnerships between the two countries.

In addition to enrolling in courses, the participants will be expected to participate in community service, public presentations and a variety of social and cultural activities on campus and in the greater Cheney/Spokane community.
