EWU is Military Friendly

CHENEY, Wash. - Eastern Washington University has been named by G.I. Jobs magazine as a Military Friendly School® for 2013! This is the fourth consecutive year EWU has been recognized by the magazine, which surveyed more than 12,000 schools.

The honor gives Eastern the distinction of being in the top 15 percent of all colleges, universities and trade schools nationwide for its outstanding support of veterans. The university's track record of recruiting veteran students and continued efforts to improve military friendliness each year are some of the reasons why it was again selected by the magazine.

EWU has more than 600 veterans enrolled in the university, and that number is expected to increase by 10 percent annually as more soldiers return from Iraq and Afghanistan. Eastern also recently opened its new Veterans Resource Center. The center will provide critical services and resources veterans will need as they integrate back into civilian life and learn to navigate the university system.

"With the opening of the new Veterans Resource Center, EWU will continue to bolster our efforts in recruiting, retaining and graduating our student veterans," said M. Dave Millet, director of the Veterans Center.
