Sharing Lincoln's Legacy

SPOKANE, Wash. - Eastern Washington University Endowed Professor Harvey Alvy will give a presentation on his book, Learning From Lincoln: Leadership Practices for School Success, at 7 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 14, at Auntie's Bookstore, 402 W. Main in downtown Spokane.

Alvy, a former principal, co-authored the book with Pam Robbins, an expert in professional learning communities. They meticulously explored Lincoln's leadership actions and thoughtful words, offering insights into what can 21st century educators learn from the leadership style of the 19th century president.

During the presentation, Alvy will discuss how Lincoln's life and leadership practices inspired the pair to write a book about the genius of Lincoln, his leadership qualities and how school leaders-from teachers to administrators-can learn from his exemplary behavior. Alvy will share excerpts from the book, taken from the most trying time in our nation's history, to demonstrate how true leadership is practiced.

The event is free and open to the public.
